INTRODUCTION TO FIELD RECORDING
WORKSHOP
7, 8, 9 JULY
Learn the several aspects of sound recording in an urban environment (handling of recorders, selection of monitoring points, recording modes, record treatment)
Open to all publics, no previous experience is needed.
The sounds of the Abaceria Central Market (Gràcia)
We propose the recording of the sounds produced by a market, from the onset of the activity until the closing at noon. We will acquire the skills for the recording of this kind of sounds and their subsequent treatment and listening with the added value of being an historical record of an activity and a way of doing things that has survived across time.
PROGRAM
Friday 7th July: 19:00 – 21:00
GTS headquarters – Theoretical session: Introduction to Acoustic Ecology and preparation of the recording session.
Saturday 8th July: 07:00 – 15:00
Abaceria Central market and contiguous streets – Recording session.
Sunday 9th July: 12:00 – 14:00
GTS headquarters – Listening to the recorded sounds. Introduction to sound maps and potential strategies to share recordings on internet.

 

Teachers
María Durán: Master in digital arts, UPF, 2002-2003 and Master in sound art, UB, 2014-2016. Between 2003 and 2011 she developed the project Cuisine Concrète that will be touring among different national and international festivals.
Carlos Gómez Caballero: Composer and sound artist. Specialist in contemporary and electroacoustic music. In 2008 he starts, together with José Manuel Berenguer, the project “Sonidos en causa”.
